Look Back at October

The month started with the continuation of storm Alex which caused training on the first Saturday of the month to be cancelled. The weather improved somewhat once storm Alex had passed through but there were some periods of heavy rain with rainfall being 150% of the norm and sunshine 75% of the norm for what was a wet and gloomy month!

Despite the inclement conditions training activity for the month remained high with 25 training sessions involving 12 Associates. As we come to the end of the summer riding season, despite all the challenges of 2020, we have welcomed 15 new members throughout the year and we have also had some of busiest Saturday morning training sessions we have ever seen.

We used the Vue Cinema as the training meet up point throughout the month and this, along with some other pre-arranged meeting locations for Associates and Tutors, has meant that Saturday morning training has been able to continue in line with the relevant guidelines.

Outside of training ARNY members have been busy as always. Paul Crane proudly posted pictures of his most recent acquisition seen here during his breaking in period at what looks like a beautiful location. Others in the group decided to follow suit with new bike acquisitions but could not match the quality of photograph so that they warranted being included here!

Ian Speight posted details of a ride out with fellow Tutors, Simon. Paul and David as he took a final opportunity for a ride before an enforced period of R&R. We all wish Ian a speedy recovery and a swift return to full health and getting back on two wheels.

Geoff Hale and Richard Smith have been active in arranging a Saturday morning ride for the post test riders who are interested in a social ride on a Saturday morning. They will both pick up on this again once we are back up and running and feel free to contact either of them if you are interested, or respond through the usual channels.

At the time of writing we are just starting the second period of lockdown during which all training and ride outs have been cancelled again. We all hope that December 5th will see a return to training but I am sure we are all waiting to see how things develop before we can be sure of that prospect.

In the meantime keep safe…..until next time…
