About ARNY
Effective and efficient training is at the core of Advanced Riders North Yorkshire. Although the tutors are all volunteers, they are all current Advanced Rider pass holders and have completed a rigorous programme of tutor training and have ongoing skills assessments to ensure consistency of approach and standards are maintained.

ARNY is more than just training. It's a group of like minded motorcyclists who want to improve their riding and their enjoyment of their bike
ROSPA Affiliated
The RoSPA advanced test is regarded as the most comprehensive and challenging available to the public. It is monitored and approved by the Driving Standards Agency.
The test lasts around 90 minutes, and is taken with a RoSPA Examiner, all of whom are serving or retired Police Officers.
The RoSPA Advanced Riding Test is unique as it is graded Bronze, Silver or Gold. A RoSPA Gold is the highest civilian riding standard available and the holder will be a master of his or her art.
We are also a social club
As well as training, we have a full calendar of regular mid-week and weekend social rides Once a member has passed their test, they have the opportunity to ride with other advanced riders on a Saturday to maintain their skills. The Post Test rides start and may choose to finish with the current trainees to maintain the camaraderie of the club and to meet new members as they go through their own training journey.
It's cheaper than you may think
Joining ARNY costs £30 and training is free, although as the Tutors are all volunteers, we do ask for a contribution of £10 per session towards the tutor's fuel. If you join ARNY having passed your motorcycle test within the last 12 months, the joining fee is reduced to £20.
Once you're ready for your test, there is a fee, payable to RoSPA, to take the test. If you become a member of RoSPA your subsequent 3 yearly re-test are included in the annual fees.
Once you have joined ARNY annual renewal costs £20.
Flexible Training
We all try to meet on a Saturday morning for training so we can all get together and enjoy the "banter". Some tutors and members work shifts so they arrange training rides during the week instead of, or as well as, the training on a Saturday.
Advanced Riding is Scientific
The advanced training is based on Roadcraft which is The Police Rider's Handbook. During training, the tutors will share their experience gained through their training and becoming a RoSPA advanced rider themselves.

Advanced Riding is Rewarding
Depending on your level of skill and experience, there can be a lot to learn to pass the test. But the process of learning is engaging and interesting and the satisfaction of seeing your riding get smoother, faster and safer is extremely rewarding. You will also find new roads to ride, new places to visit, share experiences of different bikes and hopefully make some new friends along the way.
