Look Back at March and forward to the ARNY Open Day on April 9th

Updated: Jun 29, 2022

March has been a very busy month for ARNY with lots going on in preparation for the start of the new riding season. Training continued throughout and there has been some great weather with lots of sunshine and high temperatures which encouraged a lot of bikers out. At times there was also some much colder and wet weather and even a few flurries of snow!!

The ARNY AGM was held on March 17th. There was a review of the past year which outlined a lot of activity, despite the challenges throughout the year, and all of the required Committee positions were successfully filled for the forthcoming year. There was also a Committee meeting in March with a particular focus on the plans for the summer riding season. The progress to date on the new look ARNY website was reviewed with all agreeing that the proposed changes are looking very good. There is a lot more to do before the new website will be ready for launch but the new framework is now in place. March also saw us launch our new 10th anniversary snoods, which are available in a variety of colours, and are already proving to be very popular.

Our new alliance with the North Yorks Fire and Rescue Service Firebike project was also launched in March. ARNY are going to actively support the project by helping to introduce advanced riding, and ARNY, as well as providing training to Firebike project volunteers. This collaboration started in practice in March by ARNY attending at the end of the Bikerdown course at Scarborough Fire Station. This is a great opportunity for both parties to spread the message and there are Bikerdown courses already planned, and largely fully booked, over the months to come. ARNY are aiming to have a representative at all the courses.

The other focus for the month has been preparations for the ARNY Open Day on Saturday April 9th at Strawberry Fields as outlined above. This is an opportunity for all to come along and get an understanding of what we do and how we do it and even get a taster ride if required. North Yorks Fire and Rescue will be bringing the Firebike along during the morning and we are looking forward to a fun morning to properly kick off the summer riding season.

A busy time for all as we look back and forward!

Everybody is welcome to the Open Day so feel free to pop in.

Until next time…..
