Thankfully August was not a record month for the weather but it did provide plenty of opportunities for great riding with lots of sunshine, without the record temperatures! This resulted in another very busy month for training with 14 Associates involved in 26 training sessions. We are setting a record in this respect nearly every month which is a reflection of the number of active members we currently have, which is great to see.
It was also another extremely busy month with respect to new ARNY members with another new record number of new members joining the group. We had 8 new members, three more from the Firebike team
and two post-test members, who are interested in the social activities of the club, which is also good to see. We welcome all of the new members and we wish them all the best with their training, if applicable, and look forward to meeting them at the social events planned for the rest of the year.
Training with the North Yorks Fire and Rescue Firebike team is now fully underway. As mentioned previously these training sessions are being organised outside of Saturday mornings to suit the shift patterns of team members and to help make Saturday morning training manageable too. Andy Creasey, the Firebike project lead was one of the test passes in August and we congratulate Andy on a very creditable Gold pass, surely the first of many for the Firebike team!!
The social activity during the month included a Sunday social ride taking in some of the delights of the North East including Yarm, Stokesley, Redcar, Guisborough ending up in the Rusty Bike Café in Swainby. Everybody enjoyed the ride on what turned out to be a lovely day for riding. Keep an eye out for the social events for the rest of the riding season. They are all listed via a link on the website, they are shown on the group calendar, which is on the first page of the website and they are posted on Facebook and Watsapp aswell. Any updates to events are also posted in the same way so keep an eye out for any changes. If you are not able to access any of the platforms for any reason, please contact marketing@arny.org.uk . Events are planned up to the end of October so take a look for those planned for September and October if they are of interest.
As the summer is quickly disappearing, we will all be looking to take the remaining opportunities to enjoy time on the bike.
Until next time….
