Look Back at April

April saw us launch the Summer Attendance Sheet and that started what was another extremely busy month at ARNY.  Once again, the weather was kind and the month saw us hold 21 training sessions involving 13 Associates and all the Tutor training team, so another great month.

The month had all that is good about ARNY, some very busy training Saturdays, along with a few mid-week training sessions, the first Wednesday Wobble of the month and the first proper social ride associated with the Open Day, and a NYFRS delivered Bikerdown course thrown in aswell.  There were a couple of impromptu social ride outs taking in the great weather that were also well attended.  Everything that is good about ARNY – working well!!

We welcomed three new members, associated with the Open Day and we wish Jeff, Richard and Alex all the best with their training.  In addition, Phill Langan was signed off as a Group Tutor after successfully completing the training and will be a great addition to the ARNY Tutor team.

The weather was kind for the ARNY Open Day which turned out to be a very busy and successful event.  This year it was decided to hold a social ride for members as part of the Open Day which was hosted by Phill Bates ending in Easingwold where Andy Creasey of the North Yorks Fire and Rescue Service hosted a Bikerdown course.  So, the Open Day involved some Taster rides, some training, a social ride and a lot of tea, coffee and bacon butties. All were well attended and much appreciated by all, along with the decent weather.

The social calendar is now up and running so keep your eye on the Summer Attendance sheet, WhatsApp and website for more details as to what is happening and when.  Phill Bates has got off to a quick start as Social Secretary and, as well as already organising a first social evening in April, he has now advertised a social meal which will be held at Yak and Yeti in York on Wed 21st May.  If you would like to go along, please put your name down on the Attendance sheet so that the appropriate places can be booked.  Keep your eye out through the normal channels for more events and information.

There are always, tests and re-tests going on throughout the year but as the riding season starts proper, they come round thick and fast.  It is not possible to post about all of them, but we congratulate all of those who have, or are going to, regain their qualification in the near future.  The three yearly RoSPA re-test seems to come round with very quickly, which mainly serves to reinforce how quickly time passes, but it is a good way to ensure we are all maintaining the standards to which we aspire or give us some hints as to what we need to work on.

We will be holding a Tutor Training weekend in May, which many of the Tutors will attend so it is likely that normal training on Saturday 24th will be cancelled.  As always, keep an eye on the Attendance spreadsheet for confirmation.

So with the summer riding season up good and proper – we look forward to more sunshine and great riding weather.

Until next time…..
