Look Back at May with ARNY

With the riding season in full flow May was also a very busy month for ARNY. The weather was fairly kind throughout the month with many reporting that the time had come for removal of the inner liners in their riding gear, which is always a pleasing time of the year! We had four new members join in May and we wish Tom, Chris, Ian and David all the very best in their training journeys.

Training has been busy throughout the month as people get back on their bikes and come along for Saturday morning training. Training is possible outside of these times and anybody interested in training at other times should just post on the usual channels and Tutors will respond if they are available. Tutors will also post their availability in the same way.

We had two test passes in May and we congratulate both Brian and Paul on a job well done.

Phil Aspinall hosted the Wednesday Wobble in the middle of the month which saw the group meeting up on the A19 and ending up at the Old George in Sykehouse where they were made to feel very welcome. All agreed that this seems to be a great venue and worth a future visit.

There was no training on the weekend of the 19th of the month as the Tutors travelled over to Wales for the annual Tutor Training weekend. The weather was very kind such that most of the theory and discussions sessions were able to be held outside in the sun. The weekend was a mixture of theory, discussions, on road training and a social ride as well. Some of the Tutors ventured on to some off-road training albeit not necessarily on purpose!

The weekend is an excellent opportunity for the Tutors to discuss various tutoring issues and help each other with shared experiences and approaches. It also helps with our consistency of approach and there is always something to be gained from discussing with others. All agreed that it was a very valuable and enjoyable weekend in a great venue. Thanks go to all of those who pulled the weekend together and made it such a great experience for all.

The Sunday Social for May was hosted by John Neaves who never disappoints with his well prepared and enjoyable routes. The ride out was thoroughly enjoyed by all who had a chance to go along.

Keep an eye out in the usual way for the social events on Facebook, WhatsApp and Facebook. As many ARNY members venture out on their travels feel free to post a picture or two to make everybody jealous of the great riding and weather!

Enjoy the sun and the light evenings. Until next time….
