Recognition for a decade of outstanding service as ARNY Chairman

Many of the ARNY Tutors, some joined by their partners, took the opportunity of an evening meal to mark, and celebrate, an outstanding job for over a decade as ARNY Chairman by Steve Potts.

Steve stood down as Chairman earlier in the year after ten years of service as ARNY Chairman and, whilst Steve is thankfully staying on as an invaluable member of the Tutor team, it was the least we could do to recognise his commitment and achievements in some way.

Steve was with ARNY from the outset and since he became Chairman ARNY has grown from about twenty members, of which Steve was the first to get a Gold pass, to approaching 150 members and the organisation it is today.  All of this achieved under the well-considered direction of Steve.

Over that time, it is estimated that Steve has volunteered more than 2000 hours of his time and trained over 200 riders, and we are still counting!  Steve has, without doubt, made a significant contribution to local riders’ skills, safety and enjoyment.

Throughout the last 10 years Steve has been noted for his characteristic, calm, measured, and professional style. We wanted to recognise Steve’s 10 years as Chairman with a memento as a mark of the appreciation for a job extremely well done, to the benefit of those who have been, and will continue to be, part of ARNY.

In his normal fashion, a framed copy of the caricature above was gratefully received by Steve, with his appreciation of all at ARNY, and those who have helped him along the way.  We expect to see it hanging over the fireplace at home soon, although Anne may have different ideas!

Here’s to another ten years at ARNY Steve!
