Phill Bates

Being bike obsessed since I was 16, I trained as a bike instructor 20 years ago in the Army and became a licence acquisition, off-road and advanced instructor. I still occasionally teach Direct Access & CBTs but have continued advanced tutoring with DIAmond (as an examiner), IAM and RoSPA.  I am also a rider and mentor for the National Escort Group, marshaling cycle races throughout the UK and have worked on the London 2012 Olympics, the UK stages of the Tour de France, the European Championships, the Tour de Yorkshire, the Tour of Britain and many others. 

 

I live in near Selby with my wife and dogs and am a fan of flying and rugby, although as a spectator these days.  I am a keen traveller and am hoping to combine my passions by biking around Australia, India or Nepal one day; we all have to have dreams to keep us going to work.
