My Story

Riding since the mid 1970’s on a variety of Japanese bikes I bought my first BMW in 1990 as a company bike, the very underrated K75S. Now on my thirteenth BMW and I have finally succumbed to buying a K1600GT Sport and marvelling at a quite amazing motorbike.

Although riding for many years, I wanted to challenge my riding skills so went along to the founding meeting of ARNY. I liked the fact that the RoSPA Test was graded and relished the challenge of trying to be the best rider that I could be and achieved a Gold pass. I value the three-year retest to maintain my skills and my involvement as an Advanced Tutor allows me to continue to develop my riding and gives me great pleasure passing on my knowledge and experience to others.

I love touring both at home and abroad with my pillion Anne and to my mind you have to go a very long way to beat the West coast of Scotland (even in the rain!). Biking ambitions over the next few years are to tour more regularly and travel further afield in less of a rush!

It is great being part of ARNY and the tutoring team – a fantastic bunch of people with wide motorcycling experience, all enthusiasts for advanced riding and actually riding their bikes.
