My Story
Riding since the mid 1970’s on a variety of Japanese bikes I bought my first BMW in 1990 as a company bike. Now on my fifteenth BMW I have finally succumbed to buying my first GS, a fantastic R1300GSA – the perfect bike for the North Yorkshire roads and touring further afield.
Riding for many years, I wanted to challenge my bike skills so went along to the founding meeting of ARNY. I liked the fact that the RoSPA Test was graded and relished the challenge of trying to be the best rider that I could be and achieved a Gold pass. I value the three-year retest to maintain my skills, and my involvement as an Advanced Tutor allows me to continue to develop my own riding whilst passing on my knowledge and experience to others.
I love touring with my pillion wife Anne, and biking ambitions over the next few years are to tour more regularly and travel in less of a rush!
Having now stepped down as Chair of ARNY after twelve years I am looking forward to continuing being part of the club and the tutor team – a fantastic bunch of people with wide motorcycling experience and all great enthusiasts for advanced riding.
