The weather at the beginning of the month was quite settled and mild, but it soon became much more unsettled, with a succession of depressions bringing rain across much of the country, and a particularly stormy spell between the 16th and the 21st which included three named storms which we probably all remember!! The amount of rain and sunshine was above average for the month and whilst some training was cancelled, one aborted when the cups and saucers blew off of the tables at Strawberry Fields, some training sessions were able to proceed as planned.
Following the Committee meeting reported in the January “Look Back” work has continued on planning for the ARNY Open Day which will be held on Saturday April 9th starting at 10:00 at the Strawberry Fields Café. The idea is to mark the new riding season with an opportunity for any interested parties to come and find out more about ARNY, what we do and how we do it. There will be the offer of taster rides for anybody wishing to go out with one of the Tutors but there will also be the chance for a simple coffee and chat. We are working on getting some other organisations involved and we will post more information as it becomes available. Please feel free to let any of your friends and riding partners know of the date and plans, everybody is welcome to come along.
2022 will see ARNY celebrate 10 years since it all began, and we are looking at some ways to celebrate this significant landmark. Pete Sturney has been busy looking at some designers and suppliers of merchandise with the ARNY Logo. As a great starting point Pete has sourced some snoods which carry a specifically designed ARNY 10th Anniversary logo. The sample stock proved very popular with them all being swiftly purchased by those lucky enough to have seen them! You may well spot them being worn by some of the lucky recipients on Saturday mornings! The main stock will be arriving soon so keep your eyes and ears open to avoid disappointment. We will also be looking at other suitable items all designed to highlight ten years of ARNY helping riders become smoother, faster and safer.
Alongside the Open Day we will be offering the “Back to Riding” sessions that proved very popular last year. These sessions are designed to help anybody who has been off of the bike for a while, for whatever reason, get back into the flow with the chance to have a ride with one of the Tutors. More information will follow but if this is something that you would be interested in please send an email to the Marketing@arny.org.uk and your name will be noted to be included.
It was great to see ARNY mentioned in the Motorcycle News with a posting of the photograph of the social rideout to the NY500 Café mentioned in the January Look Back. Thanks to Ian for getting us highlighted!
You should have see the communication from Steve Potts about the ARNY Annual General Meeting which will be held on the 17th March at the The Ainsty Pub in York. All ARNY members are welcome to attend this meeting and, as always, all the committee positions are up for re-election and there are also some vacancies to be filled this year. If you need any more information just contact one of the Committee who will be happy to help.
With the temperature beginning to rise a bit and the days getting longer there is a lot to be getting on with at ARNY, until next time….
