ARNY is back to Training - Look Back at April

As of April 12th we were all delighted to get back to training. The first weekend back was welcomed with a great deal of enthusiasm which resulted in what was probably a record turnout with 11 Associates pleased to get back to making progress with their training. The enthusiasm was helped, to some extent, by the fact that April was an unusually dry and sunny month.

In the month as a whole there were 23 training rides involving 13 Tutors. Four new members have joined in March and April and it was also great for the group to get back to Strawberry Fields, whilst maintaining appropriate social distancing, for our Saturday training meet up point.

With a view to offering some support for those looking to get back to riding after the break, the group offered Back to Riding sessions. Seven ARNY members expressed an interest and organised sessions with various Tutors. The feedback was very positive from all involved and we will consider offering a similar opportunity next year for those who take a break from riding over the winter months.

At the end of March the group held the annual AGM. It was a virtual meeting which reflected on a successful and surprisingly active year despite the interruption in training. The general feeling was one of enthusiasm for a return to training and getting back to normality as soon as possible.

Richard Falls stepped down on as ARNY Secretary, and from the Committee, after some 5 years in post and we all thank Richard for his hard work and commitment over the years. Richard will continue his Tutoring role and will be around on Saturdays as usual. Steve Reed stepped up and put his name forward for the Secretary position and was duly voted into the position. Pete Sturney, one of our post test members, has been voted on to the Committee so we welcome Pete and thank Steve for taking on the Secretarial duties. In the absence of any other nominations, the other Committee members were re-elected.

Geoff Hale has been active in organising some Saturday morning rideouts for post test members which has been well supported. Feel free to contact Geoff if you are interested and keep an eye on Facebook for information. As the restrictions continue to reduce the social side of the group will start to build up again. Keep an eye out on the usual channels for news for future events.

We are back and everybody is feeling better for it! Until next time....
