Look Back at May
Hello and welcome to a ‘Look Back’ at May with ARNY.
The month got off to a great start on the 2nd when Nigel Hobson took his test and obtained a Gold pass. Congratulations Nigel on a great achievement.
The weather definitely improved in May and we had several days of glorious sunshine. However, this only resulted in seven training rides although we did carry out several taster rides for prospective members. The loss of one Saturday due to the Tutor Training weekend did have an impact on the monthly sessions.
Speaking of which, the weekend of 18th, 19th and 20th saw 10 tutors head to the Scottish borders for the annual three day Tutor Training weekend. This consisted of assessed rides, scenarios and discussion topics. This is the 3rd year running this has been arranged and always proves a worthwhile venture.
Membership continues to grow, with 2 new members; welcome to Mike and Dave. I look forward to meeting you both at some point.
The Tour De Yorkshire visited us and its smooth progress was aided by ARNY Tutors Richard Falls, Phill Bates and Martin Dougherty who are all Race Marshalls for the National Escort Group (NEG).
Other Tutors were also busy with their own bike trips and tours. Andy Esmond went to Spain and Portugal as did Phill Bates on a different tour, Ian Speight went to Scotland with Bowker BMW customers and John Neaves also went to Scotland but took the wild camping route; a very hardy soul.
All in all lots going on despite the lost weekend to tutor training.
