Hello and welcome to a very late ‘Look Back’ at April with ARNY.
The weather finally started to turn a corner and this was reflected in the number of training rides in the month; 25 in total involving 14 different members and all of the tutor team at some point or another.
April also saw six new members join us; welcome to Hazel, Dave, Steve, Mark, Nigel and another Dave. I look forward to meeting you all at some stage.
On the 14th April we had our first test pass of the year when ARNY member John Oldridge took and successfully passed his test. Congratulations John on a great achievement.
The 15th saw ARNY in a joint taster ride venture with E Yard RoSPA group and Hull IAM group, Hull and East Riding Advanced Motorcyclists (HERAM). It was a very successful day with lots of rides undertaken and lots of interest in what we all do and offer. On the weekend of the 21st, ARNY supported York Triumph dealer, A1 Moto at their season launch event with another great response and lots of interest shown. The 21st also saw our Training Officer, Ian Speight represent ARNY and RoSPA at Humberside Police first BikeSafe event of the year.
On the 29th Tutor Jeff Terry led a group of members on a mystery tour of Lincolnshire. I don’t think it was intended to be a mystery tour but these things happen! Seven bikes and riders attended and the weather was very kind resulting in them all still having a great day out.
Finally, congratulations to newly qualified Tutors Simon Wilson and Paul Crane. Both Simon and Paul joined ARNY to train towards their RoSPA tests and once they had completed that, they chose to stay with the group and progress to Tutor status. This is by no means an easy path to follow; they had to study hard to pass a written test paper, complete two days of classroom theory and then spend at least 6 sessions shadowing and leading training sessions with ‘real’ members under supervision before being signed off. A great achievement guys and a welcome addition to the Tutor Team.
Well that just about sums up April, and apologies again for the (very) late submission.
