Look Back at February

Hello and welcome to a fairly short ‘Looking Back’ article for February.

Unfortunately due to the freezing temperatures and overnight frosts, we were forced to cancel two out of the four training Saturdays in February, meaning as a group only four associates managed any training; well done to those hardy souls and the tutors who accompanied them. On the plus side, we have had two new members join us, Kevin Walker and Alistair Campbell; a warm welcome to you both.

February saw ARNY hold our Annual General Meeting when all committee posts were up for re-election. There we no new proposals or challenges to current roles so the committee remains the same for the next 12 months, with one exception....

Tony Brunskill, Advanced Tutor and founding member of ARNY (without whom none of us would be here today) has decided to step down from the committee, tutoring and motorcycling in general whilst he explores new opportunities and challenges.

Tony and a friend Ged Poppleton (sadly now deceased) had joined various advanced groups but felt none had quite offered what they wanted so, rather than just have a moan, they did something about it and formed Advanced Riders North Yorkshire. Over the years Tony has held various roles on the committee and has always worked tirelessly for the benefit of the group and its members.

To celebrate Tonys years of sterling work for ARNY, he has been made an Honorary Lifel Member and was presented with a plaque to mark the occasion as well as a framed photograph of the tutor team.

Tony will be sadly missed but I am sure you would join me in wishing him every success for the future and hopefully we will see him from time to time to have a catch up.

As I write this, the Beast from the East and storm Emma have been and gone, so hopefully the bikes will be out more in March.

Finally, just a quick reminder that ARNY will be at Barrie Robson Motorcycles (BMW), Clifton Moor, York this coming weekend (10th & 11th) when they have their New Season Launch event. Why not pop along and say hello?

Until next month….
