Hello and welcome to Octobers ‘Looking Back'.
October saw a slight slow down in training after the summer ‘rush’ with members enjoying 14 training sessions between them with all tutors being involved at some point.
For the first month this year there are no new members to welcome but following a recent Committee meeting I can announce that we are increasing the tutor team from 11 to 15. This is as a result of ARNY's continued membership growth throughout 2017. The four new tutors, who are all ARNY members and trained and passed their advanced tests with us, should hopefully qualify between now and March 2018. The committee also agreed to increase the number of Advanced tutors from the current 3 to 5 and it is hoped that these will also qualify by March 2018.
On the test front, 2 more members took and successfully passed their tests. Tutor Andy Esmond took his triennial retest and obtained a Gold pass and member Mick Findley obtained a Silver pass. Well done to you both.
On the social side of things, a Post-Test (PT) social group has been created for those members who have passed but still wish to meet up and keep up with other ARNY members on a Saturday. The idea being that they can attend the café on a Saturday morning and then have their own social ride, finishing up at the same end destination as those training. If you are ‘post-test’ and wish to get involved, then please add your name to the doodle poll with the letters (PT) after your name.
Tutor Richard Falls and member Lance Monkman recently enjoyed a week long tour to Morroco, both on and off-road, and many sites were seen. I understand it was quite and eventful trip with not everyone in Richard's group having a completely trouble free holiday. Fortunately both Richard and Lance are now back safely.
Tutor Adam Abel organised and led another Sunday social ride. 170 miles around, up and over the moors covering a mix of roads and terrain. Finally on the social front, member Simon Wilson has just returned from a 3500 mile motorcycle tour to Malta via UK, Belgium, France, Italy, Sicily, Malta and back; that's six ferry crossings!
Well that just about sums up October with ARNY so until next time, ride safe everyone.
