Always had a passion for bikes since riding around fields on a BSA Bantam D1 at 12 years old, my current bikes: Ducati 916, KTM 950SMR and the bike that lots of us seem to settle on once they reach my time of life an R1200GS!

I passed my bike test way back in 1975 when a pass meant not falling off or riding over the examiner when he jumped out in front of you; how times have changed.

I decided after a nasty incident with an Articulated Lorry on the Guisborough to Whitby road about seven years ago, I needed to improve my riding skills and awareness. I passed the IAM test with a local group a few years ago from this I wanted to progress to a higher level and joined ARNY in spring 2017, becoming a Tutor a year later. I liked the relaxed but thorough approach to advanced riding and encouragement to fine tune your existing skills.

I’ve been doing bike trips to Italy, Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica for the last ten years, it’s just like Scotland, apart from the food, weather and they don’t have Mugello.
